

Marilyn Gilbert Miller, age 94, of Hickory, NC, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2026. Born in Catawba County, on September 16, 1931, she lived a long, beautiful life centered entirely on the family she loved so deeply.
Marilyn was a lifelong member of Millers Lutheran Church in Hickory and was known to everyone as a kind, welcoming soul who was incredibly loving to anyone who crossed her path. She brought immense joy to her family and friends through her wonderful silliness, always ready with a joke and a laugh. Marilyn had a special fondness for butterflies and the beautiful color, purple, both of which matched her bright and free-spirited nature.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Lola Gilbert; her beloved husband, Carl Miller; her daughter, Terri Miller; and her sister, Brenda Reed.
Marilyn’s legacy of love lives on through her devoted family. She is survived by her son, Mr. Robin Miller, and wife Mrs. Robin Miller; her cherished granddaughters, Amber White and husband, Jake White, and Alexandria Coffey; and grandsons by marriage, Austin Moore and his wife, Sydney Moore, and Aaron Moore and his wife, Hope Moore.
She was the proud great grandmother of Hogan White, and great grandmother by marriage to Austin and Sydney’s son, Gunner Moore. Marilyn is also survived by her cousin, Barbara Keever; her brother-in-law, Wayne Reed; her niece, Amy Jarrett and her husband Todd Jarrett; her nephews, Rev. Kenny Reed and his wife, Leslie, and Kevin Reed and his wife Stephanie; as well as several great-nieces and great-nephews.
A service to celebrate Marilyn’s life will be held on Sunday, August 30, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Millers Lutheran Church. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 until 1:45 p.m. at the church. Rev. Kenneth Reed and Rev. Todd Cook will officiate the service. Burial will be private for the family.
