Martha Mae Pope Brittain

HICKORY-Martha Mae Pope Brittain, 92, passed away Dec. 20, 2014 at Trinity Village.Martha was born January 4, 1922 in Catawba Co. to the late Thomas Garland and Artie Mae Benfield Pope. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Horace J. Brittain; 3 sisters, Georgia Ruth Day, Annie Laura Lowman and Jo Ann Holsclaw and a brother, Thomas Q.E. Pope and wife, Inez.She was a life long member of Bethany Lutheran Church.Surviving are a brother; James “Jim” Pope and wife, Peggy of Hickory; sister, Freda Pope Bolick of Hickory; brother-in-law, Howard Holsclaw of Hickory and a number of nieces and nephews.Services will be Tuesday, Dec. 23, at 12:00 noon at Hickory Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dan Duke officiating. Burial will follow in Catawba Memorial Park.The family will receive friends Tuesday, Dec. 23, from 10:45 until 11:45 A. M. at Hickory Funeral Home.
