Marylee Harvell Guthrie

HICKORY - Marylee Harvell Guthrie, 99, passed away March 4, 2014 at Trinity Village after a period of declining health. Marylee was born January 8, 1915 in Caldwell Co. to the late Melvin and Alcie Johnson Harvell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, James Guthrie on May 9, 2005. She was a charter member of East Hickory Baptist Church and retired from Shuford Mills. She enjoyed gardening and ceramics.

Surviving are her daughters; Lois Long of Hickory and Judy Huffman and husband, David of Hickory; son, Larry Guthrie of Edmond, OK; granddaughters, Carol Wolfe of Hickory, Kim Montgomery of Norman, OK and Katie Ledford of Hickory; grandsons, Tom Long, Jr. of Hickory, Jeff Long of Hickory, Joe Guthrie of Edmond, OK and Andrew Huffman of Pittsburgh, PA; 14 great-grandchildren and 6 great- great -grandchildren. A graveside service will be Friday, March 7, 2014, at 3:00 P. M. at Catawba Memorial Park with Rev. Bill Howell officiating. The family would like to extend their gratitude to all the staff at Trinity Village for the loving care and support provided, allowing Marylee to endure her battle with Alzheimer’s with dignity and grace!
