Mildred "Mickie" Hollifield Brown

HICKORY – Mildred Hollifield Brown, 91 of Hickory went home to be with the Lord on September 21, 2023 peacefully at home surrounded by family.

Born on September 24, 1931 in Mitchell County to the late Grady Aaron and Hattie Dale Hollifield. Mickie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend to all who knew her. She was a dedicated member of Westview United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth W. Brown Sr.; son Kenneth W. Brown Jr., 3 brothers and 2 sisters.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Sharon Powell of Ocean Isle Beach, NC, Denise Brown of Hickory; daughter in law, Elizabeth Brown of Green Acres, WA; grandchildren, Matthew Smith and wife Stefanie Fisher of Hickory, Johnathon Smith of Bowie, MD, Ashley Brown and wife Stacy of New Bern, NC, Aaron Brown and wife Elise of Green Acres, WA; great-grandchildren, Vayden Smith, Ashlyn and Ava Brown, Adelaide and Shelby Brown; numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at 2 PM at Westview United Methodist Church with Pastor Eddie Karriker officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 PM – 2 PM at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
