

She attended and graduated from Mt. View High School in1945. She worked at the Hylan Porcelain, Durham Life Ins. Co. and Weaver Ins. Agency.
Mildred was a faithful member of First Church of God, taught Sunday School (children & adults) served as youth director, served as President of Missionary Society and Vacation Bible School director. In later years, she moved to Alexander County and faithfully attended Friendship Lutheran Church.
When she wasn’t pulling pranks or joking around her hobbies included growing African Violets, Ficus trees, Orchids and many other plants and flowers or writing poems, painting, crossword puzzles, Sudoku, and other games.
She was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Pauline Killian, Hazel Kerley; 3 brothers, J. Lee Whitener, Jack Whitener of Hickory and George Jr. of Bastrop, TX.
Survivors include her 2 daughters, Debbie Cline and husband Wade, Connie Ray; grandchildren, Dana Killian, Wendy Cline, and Bryan Kirby and wife Katie of Boomer NC; great grandchildren, Gavin and Brianna Killian and Ellie Kirby.
Come dressed in bright colors to her Celebration of Life on Sunday, January 12, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. in the Family Life Center at Friendship Lutheran Church. A reception will follow the service in the Family Life Center. Rev. Josh Tucker will officiate the service.
