Naomi Lou Trado

Naomi Lou Wood Trado, age 86, of Hickory, NC, passed away on Tuesday, September 5, 2017. She was born December 7, 1930 in Franklin County, NC, to the late John Melvin Wood and Novella Christmas Dickerson Wood.

Naomi graduated from Epsom High School in Franklin County, NC, and had worked as a real estate broker and taught basket making at CVCC and Western Piedmont Community College. She was of the Baptist faith, a former Girl Scout leader, and was also an avid UNC Tarheel basketball and Atlanta Braves fan. Naomi enjoyed playing golf and bridge and was a member of the ACBL. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Naomi was preceded in death by a son, Charles Elmendorf Trado III; sisters, Grace Lassiter, Alice Hodge and Geraldine Wood.

Naomi is survived by her children, Charlotte Trado Davis (Scott) of Hickory, NC, Melanie Trado of Boone, NC, Chuck Trado (Caroline) of Hickory, NC, and Tony Trado (Donna) of Hickory, NC; grandchildren, Mandi Harris (Kevin), Erin LeGrand (Ryan), Leigh Wozniak (Jeff), Kadie Adkins (Jordan), Heather Mitchell (Will), Garrett Kersey (Madison), and Crissy Trado; great-grandchildren, Owen LeGrand, Ethan LeGrand, Banks Wozniak and Nora Mitchell; brother, John Harry Wood of Florida; and special family friend, Maria Aldea of Hickory, NC.

A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 9, 2017 in the Chapel of Drum Funeral Home in Hickory, NC, with family friend, Rev. Eric Davis, officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service. A private committal service for family will be held at the columbarium at Oakwood Cemetery in Hickory, NC.
