Nhia Xiong Thao, age 72, was born on April 22,1949 in Laos. He died on October 28, 2021 at Catawba Valley Medical Hospital in Hickory, North Carolina. He was born to Kab Xiong and Soob Pov Thao. He was married to Neng Xiong, his wife of 50 years and together they had 6 sons, 6 daughters and 24 grandchildren.
Nhia retired in 2009 and resided in Conover, North Carolina. He was a great man of God who was an active member of Hmong Community Baptist Church. He enjoyed outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, raising chickens and gardening.
Nhia was preceded in death by his parents and first born daughter, Maiv Vue Thao. Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, 11 children, 3 son in laws, 4 daughter in laws, and 24 grandchildren. He was a humble man full of love and laughter. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family.
A funeral service will take place at Catawba Memorial Park 3060 Highway 70 SE Hickory, NC 28603 at 8:30 AM on November 6, 2021.
