Patrick Edwin Allen Jr.

For more than 20 years, Pat built a dedicated career in optical, where he served as a Lab Manager and became a steady mentor to many. He was known not only for the care he brought to his work, but for the warmth and decency he extended to the people around him—an enduring kindness that left its mark in quiet, lasting ways.

Outside of work, Pat found joy in playing golf with his lifetime friends and family. A devoted sports fan, he especially loved the Denver Broncos. Those who knew Pat will remember how easily he could lift a room—his gentle humor and openhearted spirit could bring a smile and a laugh even on the hardest days. In that way, he remained deeply beloved by all who met him, and his absence will be felt with profound sorrow and enduring gratitude.

In 2021, Patrick moved to Hickory, NC, and on October 7, 2022, he married Dakota Hurtt in Hickory. In the life they shared, Patrick’s warmth and devotion were evident in the everyday ways he showed up for the people he loved.

He is survived by his wife, Dakota and 3 dogs(Finnick, Rusty and Duke) of Conover, NC, parents Patrick Sr. and Patricia Allen of Howell, NJ, sister Kyle Allen and her fiance Eric Rouskas, their children Alex and Eli of Freehold, NJ; in addition to many close friends and family from all the places he has been.

A Celebration of Life for Patrick will be held on Sunday, July 26, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Hickory Funeral Home, 1031 11th Ave Blvd SE, Hickory, NC 28602.
