HICKORY—Pearl Pope Johnson 89, passed away September 21, 2015 at Carolina Rehab of Burke after a period of declining health. She was born February 10, 1926 in Catawba County to the late William Marvin and Cordie Punch Pope. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband Tom J. Duney; 4 sister and 3 brothers. She was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church ELCA. She is survived by her husband Bennie Johnson of the home; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Thursday, September 24, 2015 from 1:00pm to 1:45pm at Zion Lutheran Church ELCA. Funeral Service will be Thursday, September 24, 2015 at 2:00pm at Zion Lutheran Church ELCA with Reverend J David Bryant and Reverend Dale Hilton officiating. Burial will follow in church cemetery.
