Pearlie James "PJ" Detter

HICKORY----Pearlie James “PJ” Detter, 79 passed away, Thursday, May 21, 2015 at his residence. PJ was born August 17, 1935 in Lincoln Co. to the late John Pinkney and Beadie Hoyle Detter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Ann Travis Detter; 5 sisters, Dollie Detter, Charlene Huffman, Leona Davis, Ilease Holsclaw and Christine Coffey; 4 brothers, Summy Detter, Cletus Detter, Clyde Detter and Oren Detter.

He was of the Baptist faith and retired from Conover Chair as a truck driver. Surviving is his daughter, Jamie Moretz and husband, Dale of Hickory; grandson, Jeremy Moretz and fiancé, Beth Haupt of Chicago, IL. and a number of nieces and nephews. Services will be Monday, May 25, at 2:00 P. M. at Hickory Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Cook and Rev. Jeremy Moretz officiating. Entombment will follow in Catawba Memorial Park.
