Born on October 12, 1926, in Wyoming County, WV, raised in China Grove, she was the daughter of the late Charles Columbus and Laura Wilhelm Gillespie.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Roy Sigmon Price; a brother Charles “Bill” Gillespie; son-in-law Philip Callison, and 2 grandsons Phillip Callison II and Larry Edward Pope.
Polly was a member of Highland United Methodist Church for nearly 70 years. She was the bookkeeper for the family business Price Well Drilling for many years, then later worked several years at the Girl Scouts Office where she retired. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother. Polly enjoyed gardening, playing cards, and dominos. She treasured her family and friends and she will be greatly missed.
Polly is survived by her daughters Ann Price Callison of Campbellsville, KY and Jean Price Gay and husband David of Hickory; sons Roy C. Price and wife Teresa of Hickory and Robert C. Price and wife Kay of Hickory; grandchildren Laura Callison Watson and husband Greg of Campbellsville, KY, Carmen Pope Brown of Hickory, Ryan Price Callison and wife Amara of Elizabethtown, KY, Cynthia Jean Price of Hickory, Holly Price Hunt and husband Kevin of Conover, Katherine Gay of Harpers Ferry, WV, Matthew Charles Price of Hickory, and April Price Hatley and husband Bobby of Claremont; 16 great grandchildren and one great great grandson. Polly is also survived by her step daughters Judy Mull of Morganton and Kay McCarter of Hickory, along with their children and grandchildren, and close as a daughter Pat Rafferty Mings of Campbellsville, KY.
The family will receive friends on Monday, February 5, 2018 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Hickory Funeral Home.
The funeral will be held Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at 3:00pm at Highland United Methodist Church with Dr. Stuart Noell and Pastor Roy Miller officiating.
Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens with pallbearers Ryan Callison, Matthew Price, Malcom Brown, Sterling Pope Cline and Hayden Pope Cline.
