Ralph Emanuel Price

HICKORY—Ralph Emanuel Price, 89, of Hickory passed away unexpectedly at Catawba Regional Medical Center on Monday, August 13, 2018. Born in Catawba County, on April 14, 1929, he was the son of the late Perry and Myrtle Price. After the death of his parents, he was brought up at the Baptist Children’s Home in Thomasville, NC. He was a lifelong member of Highland Baptist Church where he was an usher and member of the Joy Makers senior adult ministry. He worked as a wood carver at Hickory Woodturning and Carving for more than 25 years. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Virginia Barber Price; sisters Helen Smith, Louise Wright, Bonnie McBride, Stella Teague and “Teen” Helton and brothers Johnny, Ernie, Albert and Ted Price. He is survived by his sons Dan Price of Hickory and Alan Price and wife Vicki of Hickory; granddaughter Ashley Price of Hickory Melissa Johnson and Olga Caraman; grandsons Brian Price and wife Crystal of Gaffney, SC, Kelly Price of Charlotte and Rentz Johnson and wife Amy ; great granddaughters Brittany Price of Hickory, Kinzley Price of Hickory, Saxon Owens of Gaffney, SC , Sevannah Price of Gaffney, SC, Ruby Kate and Evie Johnson and Alexandria Pittman; great grandsons Seth Price of Gaffney, SC, Caleb White, Chandler and Cooper Johnson and Daniel Byrd; great great granddaughter Chloe Salyer of Hickory; great, great grandsons Atticus, Lincoln, and Lawson Bolick all of Hickory. The family will receive friends Friday, August 17, 2018 from 11:30am to 12:45 pm at Highland Baptist Church. The funeral will be held Friday, August 17, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Highland Baptist Church with Reverend Kenny Robison officiating.

Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Joy Makers - Highland Baptist Church, 828 9th Ave. NE, Hickory, NC 28601.
