

Dick was born December 18, 1942 in Newton to Harold R. and Kathryn Bolick Clampitt and lived in Catawba County his entire life. He worked as a machinist for R.R. Donnelley and Sons and retired in 2004.
Dick proudly served his country during the Vietnam War in the U.S Navy.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Candy Clampitt; children, Debni Cline and husband J.P. of Newton, Faith Rhoney and husband Gary of Morganton, Renee Decklar and husband Donald of Shelton, WA, Dawn Richard and husband Scott of Bitterroot Valley, Montana and Mark Clampitt and wife Kelli of Conover; brother, David Clampitt and wife Regina of Connelly Springs; 16 grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Kathryn Clampitt.
A Celebration of Dick’s life will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Healing Springs Church in Hickory with Pastor Brad Spencer officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 pm till 2:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Words of comfort for the family may be left at www.catawbamemorialpark.com. The Clampitt family is under the care of Catawba Funeral Home.
