Ricky Dale Lutz

Born in Catawba County on July 21, 1952, he was the son of the late Vance V. Lutz and Dorothy Brittain Lutz.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister-in-law Elaine Lutz and an infant nephew.

A Lifelong member of Sardis Lutheran Church where he was baptized and confirmed. Rick graduated from Fred T. Foard and CVCC. He worked as an electrician for Catawba County School System. He was awarded “Man of the Year” in 2011 at Sardis Lutheran Church. Rick was an avid hunter and was a member of Tri County Hunting Club. He played high school football and church softball; he dearly loved UNC Tarheels.

He is survived by his wife Rita Jarrett Lutz of the home; brothers Michael Lutz (Dorothea Wyant) of North Myrtle Beach and Roger Lutz of Vale; niece Heather Coffey (Jesse) of Vale; nephews Jon Lutz (Janelle) of Wendell and Evan Lutz (Jennifer) of Grimesland, and a great niece Kate Lutz and great nephews Brian Coffey, Rhett Lutz Porter Lutz, Noah Lutz and Weller Lutz.

The family will receive friends Sunday, July 5, 2026, from 1:45 pm to 2:45 pm at Sardis Lutheran Church. Funeral service will follow at 3:00 pm with Reverend Oscar Shepherd officiating. Burial will follow in church cemetery.
