Ricky Wayne Ogden, 64, of Denver, North Carolina passed away peacefully in his home with family on Sunday, June 25, 2023. He was born on November 3,1958 in Los Angeles, California to Phillip Ogden and the late Carol McClain.
Prior to retiring from his role as a database administrator for a financial institution, Rick had a successful career working on fighter jets, space projects at NASA, and launching his own company. Among many awards received during his time at NASA he was most proud of the awards he received for his contribution to the Hubble Space Telescope and the work he did on the Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM).
Rick was a member of The Cove Church in Denver, NC. He loved to listen to classic rock, dance, spend time in the garden and loved woodworking. He was a passionate fan of the Baltimore Ravens and enjoyed kayaking and hiking. Above all else he loved spending time with his family and being a husband, father, and grandfather.
Rick is survived by his wife of 23 years, Christine Ogden; their children Nicole (Charles) and Rebecca (Benjamin) of Mooresville, NC; his son Brandon of Glen Rock, PA; grandchildren, Aalihya (Brett), Kennedy, and August; and great grandchild, Lincoln. Rick is also survived by his brother Tracy (Carlla) and brother in law Craig (Suzanne), sister in law Jennifer (Dan), and brother in law Kenneth (Laurie) as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Rick will be held Saturday, July 1, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Catawba Funeral Home, 3060 US Hwy 70 Se, Hickory, NC 28602, followed by a a celebration of life service at 12:00 PM. Rick will be laid to rest in Catawba Memorial Park, 3010 US Hwy 70 SE, Hickory, NC 28602.
