Robert Marion Armstrong

He was born in Gaston County on March 24, 1938, son of the late Robert Jackson Armstrong and Nell Brafford Armstrong. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law Frank Canning and Lester Canipe.

He was retired from Central Telephone Co. after 24 years of service, was a member of Augustana Lutheran Church, and a veteran of the US Army.

Surviving are his loving wife of 38 years, Lois Crocker Armstrong; sons Timothy and wife Jaime Armstrong of Wilmington and Mark and wife Michelle Armstrong of Hickory; grandchildren Caroline, Jackson, Elizabeth, and Baby Boy Armstrong due in July; brother David and wife Dana Armstrong of Dallas; sister Sandra A. Canning of Foxboro, MA; brothers and sisters-in-law Seburn and June Crocker of Mooresville, Dean and Nancy Crocker, and Gail C. Canipe, all of Cherryville.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday May10th, from 6 to 8:00 p.m. at Hickory Funeral Home.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 11th at 1:00 p.m. at Augustana Lutheran Church. Burial will precede the service in the church cemetery at 11:00 a.m.
