Robert (Bob) Hymer – 78 of Hickory went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 2nd, 2025, at Carolina Caring surrounded by his loved ones.
Born on October 19th, 1946, in Kenton County, Kentucky, Robert was the son of the late Harry and Loretta Hymer. During the Vietnam War, Robert proudly served in the US Air Force earning Airman of the Year. He also worked for the Seagram’s Company for 17 years where he built lasting friendships.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 55 years, Carolyn Moore Hymer; his daughter, Shea Waldron and husband, John; his grandson, Chase Waldron and Katelyn; his granddaughter, Taylor Waldron and Jesse; Goddaughter, Kelli Wales and husband, Shawn; his brother, Ken Hymer and wife, Jeanette; and his sister, Florence Hymer.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Catawba Funeral Home on Saturday, August 9th, 2025, at 10:00 am with Pastor Jeff Frymire officiating.
The family will receive friends after the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation at 733 Third Ave, Suite 510, New York, New York 10017 Attn: Financial Operations in Robert’s name.
