Roberta Mae Handlin, 68, of Newton, NC, passed away Sunday, Sept 6, 2020 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center after a courageous fight against Leukemia.
She was born February 25, 1952, in Hutchinson, KS, to Loretta Rous Handlin and the late Robert C. Handlin.
Roberta was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where she sang in the choir and loved her church and church family. She kept God and family first. She loved gardening, flowers, and enjoyed the outdoors. She also tatted, sewed, and made miniature scale models of various replicas of old buildings and bridges, which are displayed at the Newton Library genealogy room.
In addition to her father she was preceded in death by a sister Twila Jo Bruce and brother-in-law David Bruce.
Those left to cherish her memory are her Mother, Loretta R Handlin of Newton; Sisters, Penny Handlin of Newton, Lois Ward (Donald) of Maiden; Daughter, Carol Blood (David) of Jamestown, NC; Son, Christopher Hayes of Advance, NC; Grandchildren, Ethan Blood, Aaron Blood, and Victoria Blood.
The Family will receive friends on Thursday, September 10, 2020 from 6 PM -8 PM at Catawba Funeral Home.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, September 11, 2020 at 2:30 PM at The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Newton Conover.
Burial will be private.
