Taylorsville – Ronald Albert Potts, 82 of Taylorsville, NC went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 11th, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones.
Born on September 11th, 1942, Rensselaer County. Ronald was the son of the late Joseph and Beatrice Sipperly Potts. He enlisted in the navy in 1961-1965 where he was assigned to the USS Long Beach and USS Albany. He met and married his wife Beverly on August 15th, 1964. Ron was also a proud member of the International Union of Operating Engineers retired from the local 106. He enjoyed hunting his entire life, especially near Otter Creek. In later years they moved to Hickory North Carolina where they enjoyed time on Lake James with family and hunting with his grandson. He began his career at Northern Tool and Equipment as a general manager and was still employed with them having celebrated his 25th year and refusing to retire!
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother Joseph Edward Potts and sister Dorothy Poirier mother of Donna Sauer, Karen Canfield, Tia Asbury.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of sixty-two years, Beverly Croll Potts; his daughters, Cathy Quigley and Brenda Ruchel (Joseph) and grandchildren Emily Adams (Mark), Matthew Quigley (Brianna), great granddaughter Claire; his in-laws Jim Croll (Cheryl), Sandi Goodwin (William), Joyce Russell (Skip); many loved nieces and nephews; their close family friends, the Akin brothers.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date in Troy, New York and he will be laid to rest at the Saratoga National Cemetery in Saratoga, New York.
A Memorial Service will be held at Catawba Funeral Home on Sunday, November 2nd, 2025 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Bill Sturm officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation in Ronald’s name.
