

He was born and lived his entire life in Catawba County and was the son of the late Calvin and Jeanette Rhoney.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Philip Alan Rhoney, brother: Vernon Rhoney and wife Novella, and sister: Myrtle Wellman.
Mr. Rhoney is survived by his wife of 64 years, Lorene Rhoney, loving daughter, Jean Abernethy and son-in-law Joe Abernethy of Hickory, three granddaughters, Tina Abernethy of Hickory, Shelley Millon and grandson-in-law, Jeff Millon of Fuquay-Varina and Miriam Young and grandson-in-law, Steven Young of Statesville, great granddaughter, Macy Millon of Fuquay-Varina, and brothers: Murl Rhoney and wife Junie and Carroll Rhoney and wife, Ruth.
Mr. Rhoney was a loving husband, daddy, pawpaw and great pawpaw, and he will be dearly missed. Family and friends cherish all of their memories of Mr. Rhoney.
Mr. Rhoney was a lifelong member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Cooksville, NC. At church, he was Sunday School Church Secretary for 44 years, active member of the United Methodist Men and served as President, served on several committees including Finance and Parsonage, and was Lay Leader of the year. Mr. Rhoney retired from Drexel Heritage Furniture after 45 years. He was an avid gardener, and he was especially fond of tending to his red roses. He loved serving as handy man to his family and friends. Mr. & Mrs. Rhoney were mall walkers.
Services will be Saturday, December 18, at 3:00 P. M. at Ebenezer United Methodist Church with the Reverend David McCauley officiating.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 P. M. at Hickory Funeral Home.
