Ruby Edna Leatherman Pope

HICKORY----Ruby Edna Leatherman Pope, 79, passed away September 30, 2014 .Ruby was born April 6, 1935 in Lincoln Co. to the late Albert “Zack” Leatherman and Lillie McNeilly Leatherman. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, James Bradford Pope; infant sisters, Katheleen Leatherman and Virginia Dare Leatherman; sisters, Merle Leatherman Powell, Meldonia Leatherman Bivens, and Josephine Leatherman.

She was a member of Penelope Baptist Church and after her retirement from the hosiery industry she became the caregiver for her husband and family.

Surviving are her dog, Poncho; sister, Juanita Finding and husband, Richard of Hickory; brother, Charlie Fletcher Leatherman and wife, Dorothy of Bethlehem; niece, DeLane Bowman and husband, Duane of Hickory; nephews, Larry Leatherman and wife, Sandy, Bruce Leatherman and wife, Flo, Charlie Leatherman, Jr. and wife, Kim, Gattis Powell and wife, Teresa; great nieces and nephews, Kelly Fiero , Tina Leatherman, Elizabeth Leatherman, Kim Leatherman, Jackie Leatherman, Erin Leatherman, Summer Leatherman, Lisa Powell Houser, Robin Powell, Mark Powell and numerous great- great nieces & nephews. Her circle of friends; Gary Lingerfelt, Shirley Johnson, Kenneth and Pat Bumgarner, Annie Barlow, Beth Wooten, Liz Elmore, Bradley Morgan and Gretchen LeBrun.

Services will be Saturday, Oct. 4, at 2:00 P. M. at Lakeview Baptist Church with Rev. Troy Grant and Rev. Don Willis officiating. Burial will follow in Catawba Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends Friday, Oct. 3, from 6:00 – 8:00 P.
