Ruby Lorene (Shook) Sherrill

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Sherrill; parents, John W. and Pearl Shook; seven siblings; and son-in-law, Gaither Tolbert.

She is survived by her daughters, Pamela Manfredi (Ken), Lisa Killian (Randy), Susan Tolbert, and Dianne Hart; grandchildren, Mandy Bjerg (Jason), Jeremy Lail (Katie), Emily Killian, Erin Schuermeyer (Chad), Molly Sain (Joel), and Olivia Killian; and great-grandchildren, Jason Barnhardt, Lukus Sams, McCoy Sams, Anna Lail, and Cashton Sain.

Ruby was the oldest daughter of seven children and quit school to help raise her siblings following the death of her father. She was a homemaker and could frequently be found behind her sewing machine, making clothes and quilts, in the kitchen cooking or canning, or outside with her flowers. She spent many summer evenings on her porch, stringing and breaking beans or shelling peas. She hosted family lunches for decades, and passed on her cooking knowledge to her children and grandchildren. Ruby loved to hold babies and was especially happy when her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were little. She was a member of Corinth Reformed Church, where she attended regularly until her health began to decline.

The funeral service will be held on Sunday, Aug. 8, at 4:00 p.m. at Corinth Reformed Church. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 3:00 until 3:45p.m. at the church. Final resting place will be next to her husband at Bethel Lutheran Church in Claremont.
