Ruth Naomi (Shook) Cook

Born in Catawba County on September 11, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Jason Heber and Zora Naomi Lanier Shook.

Ruth was a member of St. Stephens Lutheran Church and employed at Highland Cleaners.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband Roy Earl Cook Jr.; her sisters Mary Gantt, Clyda Fox, Lena Fox, Pearl Watts, Rosa Shook and Frances Langley; and her brothers Ray Shook, Gwynn Shook, Claude Shook, Carroll Shook and Hugh Shook.

She is survived by her daughter Susan Bowman (David Lowman) of Hickory; her son Tony Cook and wife Kerry of Hickory; granddaughters Jessica Petree of Hickory, Stacey Martin and husband Chris of Hickory; grandson Travis Cook of Charlotte; 4 great grandchildren and her sister Helen Martin of Hickory.

The family will receive friends Thursday, June 25, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Hickory Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be held Friday, June 26, 2026, at 11:00 am at St. Stephens Lutheran Church with Reverend David Ziehr officiating.

Burial will follow in church cemetery.
