Sadie Brown Cope, 96 of Hickory, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at Sterling House in Hickory. Born May 27, 1918 in Sweet Valley, PA, she was the daughter of the late Charles Howard Brown and Vera Shaw Brown. Sadie, a member of First Christian Church in Newton, loved to garden and crochet.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Fred Ray Cope; son, Fred Cope; brothers, Claire Brown, Charles Brown, and Paul Brown; and sisters, Thelma Lehr and Ella Bucek.
Survivors include daughter, Jane Van Deuson of Hickory; daughter-in-law, Patti Cope of Hickory; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 in the Chapel of Drum Funeral Home in Hickory with Pastor Gary Patterson officiating. Burial will follow in Conover City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. - 10:45 a.m. prior to the service.
