

HICKORY Sara Dellinger Cooper, 97, of Hickory, passed away at Trinity Village Saturday, July 30, 2016. Mrs. Cooper was born Aug. 9, 1918, in Cleveland County, daughter of the late Thomas C. and Vada Smith Dellinger. Mrs. Cooper was a cherished homemaker, beloved wife, and devoted mother and grandmother. She enjoyed reading, gardening, cooking and sewing. She was the oldest member of Highland Baptist Church, having joined at age 15, making her a faithful member for 83 years. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cooper was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Norman B. Cooper; a son, Ronald L. Cooper; a daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Coulter Cooper; sisters, Novella D. Wilson, Verna D. Frye, Kate Dellinger, Lillian D. Robinson; and brother, J.C. Dellinger. Mrs. Cooper is survived by a son, Tony C. Cooper of Hickory; a daughter and son-in-law, Renee Cooper and Homer L. Biddy of Taylorsville; a daughter-in-law, Revonda Burns Cooper of Hickory; four grandchildren, Devin O. Cooper of Hickory, Carla Cooper Gibson and husband, Shawn of Lincolnton, Tamara Cooper Younce and husband, Frank of Newton, and Brook N. Biddy and partner, Sabrina Anne McMasters of High Point; six great-grandchildren, Gage Cook, Kase Gibson, Kaylie, Darbey and Clowee Younce, and Katelyn McMasters. The funeral services will take place at Highland Baptist Church Tuesday, Aug. 2. The family will receive from 2 to 3 p.m.; services will follow at 3 p.m. Interment will take place at Catawba Memorial Park. Online condolences may be left at www.hickoryfh.com.
