SHIRLEY FRYE JOHNSON HICKORY – Shirley Frye Johnson, 80 passed from her earthly life on April 2, 2016 at Catawba Regional Hospice. Born October 14, 1935 to the late Jim and Verna Frye, she lived most of her 80 years in Hickory and brought smiles to all who knew her. We will miss her dearly for the rest of our days. She was a retiree of Hickory Chair Company where she very capably handled hundreds of employee insurance concerns for years. She made many friends over her lifetime, but her emphasis in life was always on her family. In the mid-1960s, finding herself a young, struggling divorcee, she made sure her three little children never felt that struggle, and made life fun, carefree, and happy for them. She was forever a cute, well-kept, prissy little woman who loved bright colors. She loved to play games of any kind. Gambling was her hobby. Left here on earth with many loving and happy memories are her survivors including her husband of 38 years, Billy Joe Johnson; brother, Gerald Frye and wife Leslie; three children, Rick Rozzelle, Robyn Rozzelle and husband Lee Porter, Ryan Rozzelle and wife Shirley; six grandchildren, Janalyn, Chay, Kylie, Nicholas, Adam, Michael; three great-grandchildren, Saryn, Kason, and Greysen. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at 1 PM at Catawba Funerals & Cremations with Pastor Robbie Kropiwnicki officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12-1 PM at the funeral home.
