Hickory – Shirley Ann Spencer Raby, 82, went to be with the Lord Saturday, June 9, 2018 at Hospice House of Sherrills Ford after a period of declining health. She was born in Alexander County to the late Sidney Spencer and Ethel Bowman Spencer. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by five sisters and three brothers. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Bobby A. Raby of Hickory; her daughter, Denise Baker and husband Bruce of Conover; sons, Terry Raby and wife Lisa of Taylorsville, Jeffery Raby of Taylorsville; granddaughter, Cassie Kraay and husband Nathaniel of Conover; grandson, Chase Baker and wife Amanda of Hickory; great grandchildren, Kate and Logan Kraay of Conover; sisters, Rachel Houston and Margaret Ritchie both of Taylorsville. She was a member of Unity Lutheran Church and retired from Clayton Marcus Furniture Company. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 from 10:00 am to 11:00 a.m. at Hickory Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at Catawba Memorial Park at 11:30 a.m. with Dr. Reverend Robert Allen and Pastor Kate Crecelius officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Unity Lutheran Church, 3025 Falling Creek Road NE, Hickory, NC 28601 or to Catawba Regional Hospice, 3975 Robinson Road, Newton, NC 28658.
