Hickory – Steven Craig Yanez, 66 of Hickory went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 3rd, 2026, at his residence.
Born on December 19th, 1959, in Orange County, California, Steven was the son of the late Johnny and Lois Yanez. Steven traveled the world with various race teams, including Open Wheel, Indy Car and NASCAR. He was loved by his family and will be dearly missed.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Mark Yanez.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 25 years, Irene Michelle Schipper: his sons, Jason Daniel Schipper, Kayle Yanez and Chris Schipper.
A Celebration of Life Service will be scheduled at a later date.
