CONOVER – Sylvia Jean Fox, 86 of Conover went home to be with her Heavenly Father on September 8, 2023.
Sylvia was born on October 15, 1936 in Caldwell County to the late Lewis Watson and Annie Anderson Owen. Sylvia volunteered at the Conover School to help serve meals; she was a member of the Hickory Civitian Club, where she served as President for a time. She also volunteered for the Salvation Army where she rang the bell around Christmas time. Sylvia was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Howell Columbus Fox.
Those left to cherish her memory is her sons, Chad Hamby and wife Elizabeth, Dell Hamby; grandchildren, Austin Hamby, Aaron Gibbs and wife Cassie; sister, Myrna Ashley; sister in law, Peggy Hamby Smith; brother in law, Junior Arnette; nieces, Teresa Arnette Cashion, Pam Arnette, Kim Arnette; nephew, Chris Arnette and best friend, Willa Cozart.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at 2 PM at Catawba Funeral Home with Rev. Anthony Moss and Rev. Aaron Gibbs officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends on Friday, September 15, 2023 from 6 PM -8PM at Catawba Funeral Home.
