Sylvia Kay Kay Hughes Hamby

TAYLORSVILLE - Sylvia “Kay” Hamby, 51, of Taylorsville went to make footprints in the sand with Jesus and her mom, “Gussie” on April 4, 2013 following a tragic car accident that occurred on April 1st.

Kay was born November 16, 1961 in Honaker, VA to Nancy Hughes Seiber and the late Zaley Gray Hughes. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her (Mom), Gussie Hughes, and mother and father-in-law, William and Mildred Hamby.

She was a homemaker and formerly owned Country Boys Restaurant and Lounge. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, nana, aunt and friend. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Surviving are her husband, William “Bill “ Hamby, of the home; children, William “WG” Hamby and wife, Mandy, of Taylorsville, Casey West and husband, Andrew, of Granite Falls and Angel Hamby and fiancé’, Tyler of Taylorsville ; stepchildren, William “Billy” Hamby of Taylorsville, Lisa Mendoza of Charlotte and Phillip Hamby and wife, Lauren, of Connelly Springs; brother, Billie “Dean” Hughes and wife, Sabrina, of Iager, W. VA; sisters, Romanda Wayne and partner, Jessica, of Conover and April Fox and husband, David, of Taylorsville; brother and fiancé’, McGarrett McManus and Brandy of Hickory; grandchildren, William “Chris” Hamby, Mason Hamby, Jayden West and Kayleigh West; 8 step grandchildren; 5 step great-grandchildren; a niece, Chasity Prestwood; nephews, Zackery McManus, Joshua Fox and Jacob Logan.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 9th from 1:30 PM until 2:45 PM at Hickory Funeral Home.

Services will be Tuesday, April 9th at 3:00 PM at Hickory Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Arthur Mason officiating.

A brief graveside service will then follow at the family cemetery.
