Ted Jones Hawn, 84, born September 3, 1929, in Catawba County, went to his eternal home on Sunday, August 24, 2014. He was the son of the late Craig Winston Hawn and Suma Hedrick Hawn. Ted was a member of St. Stephens LCMS and was a building contractor. He loved working and he loved his dogs. He owned Great Danes and labs and his favorites were Bailey and Sissy.
In addition to his parents, Ted was preceded in death by his wife of more than 60 years, Opal Hawn; brothers, Richard Hawn and Jack Hawn, Sr.; and his sister, Pauline McCarter.
Ted is survived by his daughter, Susan Hawn of Conover and a number of nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at St. Stephens LCMS with Revs. David Guelzow and David Ziehr officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 3:15 to 4:00 p.m. at the church prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be given to Catawba Regional Hospice, 3975 Robinson Road, Newton, NC 28658.
