Thomas "Tom" Jefferson Abernathy

Born in Catawba County, on March 19, 1937, he was the son of the late Marvin and Martha Abernathy.

Thomas was a veteran of the United States Amry, he served as military police in Korea. He retired as Vice President of quality Control at Collezione Eurada. He was also a member of Burke Chapel United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his wife Norma Jean Abernathy and his son Bryan Abernathy.

He is survived by his sons Chris Abernathy and wife Lisa of Lenoir and Jamie Abernathy of Hickory; grandchildren Bryan Abernathy of Durham, Paden Abernathy of Oregon, and Madison Abernathy of Lenoir.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 9, 2026, from 9:45 am to 10:45 am at Burke Chapel United Methodist Church, with funeral service at 11:00 am with Reverend Tami Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in church cemetery with military honors.
