Troy Everette Deal

Troy Everette Deal, 92, of Brookdale Peachtree Memory Care, Statesville, NC died Sunday, August 31, 2025. The son of the late William Zeb Deal and Lizzie Belle Smith Deal, he was a lifelong member of St. Stephens Lutheran Church and School Missouri Synod in Hickory and was an avid bible scholar. Troy worked for Shook Building Supply where he learned many useful skills.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Dorothy Deal; four brothers, David, Avery, Winfred, and Levi Deal. He is survived by one sister Virgie Deal; and friends and caregivers, Bobby Hollar and Frances Reese. He was a true friend and brother in Christ with Bobby Hollar.

Troy had a sign posted on his front door which read, “Hello Everyone! My name is Troy Deal, and I call Statesville, North Carolina my home. Before moving to Brookdale, you would find me working hard at the lumber plant. This was a lifelong career for me. I am a very religious man and was very involved with my church prior to moving here. As you're visiting, you will likely see me in the hallway or living room reading my bible. This is one of my favorite things. Although I am typically quiet, I enjoy spending time in the company of others. If you’re in the mood for some music, be sure to ask me for my harmonica and let me play you a song. I also am a lover of animals, especially dogs and always enjoy when they visit. I look forward to meeting everyone here at Brookdale!”

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at 1:00 pm in the sanctuary of St. Stephens Lutheran Church and School Missouri Synod of Hickory with the Rev. David Ziehr officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Brookdale Peachtree Memory Care, 2806 Peachtree Road, Statesville, NC 28625 or Hospice & Palliative care of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton, Road, Statesville, NC 28625
