

Troy Wray “June Bug” Stallings, age 89, passed away peacefully at his residence on December 12, 2025. He was born in Catawba County on May 2, 1936, to the late Roy Williams Stallings and Hazel Wray Stallings.
Troy dedicated over 30 years of his life to General Electric, where he worked as an engineer and draftsman, earning respect for his precision, reliability and strong work ethic. In addition to his professional career, Troy devoted an extraordinary 59 years of service as a firefighter with the Propst Crossroads Fire Department, faithfully serving his community.
A man of deep faith, Troy was a lifetime member of Corinth Baptist Church, where he served in various roles throughout the years. His devotion to his church and his love for the Lord were evident in his daily life.
Troy found great joy in gardening and farming, passions that reflected his appreciation for hard work and the beauty of God’s creation. He was happiest working the land and sharing the fruits of his labor with others.
He was a devoted husband to his wife of 30 years, Marcia Stallings, and a loving father to four daughters: Jennifer Costner (Paul), Maxine Huffman, Tanya Clanton (Kevin), and Tammy Wallace (Lane). He was also a cherished brother to Julia Stallings.
He was a proud grandfather to Samantha Hoyle (Michael), Matthew Costner (Savannah), and Tyler Costner (Alicia), and a loving great-grandfather to Emma Hoyle, Mason Hoyle, Waylon Costner, Madden Costner, and Charlotte Costner.
In addition to his parents, Troy was preceded in death by his sister, Rose Ella Stallings; his beloved brother, Royal Mackhampton “Mack” Stallings III; and his son-in-law, Terry Huffman.
Troy Wray “June Bug” Stallings will be remembered for his kindness, humility, faith, and lifelong dedication to his family and community. His legacy of service and love will live on in the many lives he touched.
The family will receive friends on Friday, December 19, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Hickory Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 20, at 11:00 a.m. at Corinth Baptist Church in Vale, North Carolina with Rev. William Kanupp and Rev. Jim Kilby officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Matthew Costner, Tyler Costner, Mason Hoyle, Michael Hoyle, Derek Stallings, Rex Willis serving as pallbearers. Propst Crossroads Fire Department will serve as honorary pallbearers.
