Vernon Maynard Bowman Jr.

He was born August 24, 1952 in Catawba County to the late Vernon Maynard Bowman Sr. and Edith Faye Herman Bowman. Vernon attended Corinth Reformed Church in Hickory and in the image of his Lord and Savior, he was a Master Carpenter over 40 years. Vernon was a hard worker at all he put his hands to do. He was of the old school that you could judge a man by his handshake and it was to be his bond. In his spare time, Vernon enjoyed gardening and fishing but above all, he was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by sisters; Wanda Johnston, Joyce Fox, and Jewel Williams.

Vernon is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Sharon Ann Nunley Bowman; son, Rino J. Bowman; daughter, Clarissa Bowman Starnes and husband, Benji; sister, Dorothy Parker, grandchildren, Ethan and Miles Starnes; several nieces and nephews and 2 brother-in-laws.

A Service of Remembrance will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, July 6, 2015 at Corinth Reformed Church, Hickory with Dr. Bob Thompson officiating.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 5, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Drum Funeral Home in Hickory.
