Vickie Gail (Cook) Price

Born on March 16, 1952 in Catawba County, she was the daughter of Shirley Starr Cook and the late Jacob Reid Cook.

Vickie was a graduate of St. Stephens High school and obtained an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science from Catawba Valley Technical College. She retired from Shurtape Technologies, where she served in Human Resources.

Vickie was a dedicated mother and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her granddaughters by planting flowers and engaging in veterinary and doctor role plays with them. Vickie loved adding beauty, color, and life to the world and displayed this with immense joy through planting flowers and nurturing beautiful landscapes into vibrant displays.

Along with her father, her brother Tony Reid Cook preceded her in death.

Her survivors are her loving mother, Shirley Starr Cook; her daughter, Ashley Price Mauney and husband, Andrew, of Hickory; granddaughters Kinzley Lauren Price and Kaisley Brynn Mauney; step-grandson Garret Cade Mauney; nephew Christopher Reid Cook; long-term committed friend Reed Lawing; her beloved dog, Bernie, and her cat, Peach.

A receiving of friends and family will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025 from 11:00 am to 12:45 pm at Christ Church-Northside Campus, Hickory.

The funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm at Christ Church-Northside Campus with Pastor Mike Faircloth officiating.

Burial will be follow at Oakwood Cemetery.

For those who are able to join us in celebrating Vickie’s life, we encourage you to wear floral patterns and/or cheerful colors to honor the beauty that Vickie leaves behind. Vickie’s passion for planting has left her home overflowing with greenery and floral arrangements, therefore in lieu of flowers we ask that donations be made, in her memory, to Hartman’s Haven Dog Rescue.
