Wanda Eckard Pope

Wanda Eckard Pope, 82 passed away Sunday, February 15, 2015 at Frye Regional Medical Center. Wanda was born December 11, 1932 in Catawba County to the late E. Clinton and Faye Yount Eckard. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister Aileen Hege and a brother Ronald Eckard. She was a lifelong member and former Sunday school teacher at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Hickory. She also retired as a teacher from Alexander County schools. She is survived by her husband of 59 years George Ray Pope of the home; her daughter Lisa Atwater and husband Tom of Hickory; her son Michael Pope and wife Melissa of Connelly Springs; grandchildren Chris Atwater, Lindsay Atwater, Matthew Pope and Markus Pope.

The family will receive friends Thursday, February 19, 2015 at Mt. Olive Church Lutheran Church from 2:00pm to 2:45pm. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, February 19, 2015 at 3:00pm at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church with Reverend David Keck Jr officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Garden. Memorials may be made to Mt.
