Wayne C Best

Wayne Clifton Best, 75, passed away July 19, 2015 at Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory. Born August 2, 1939 in Halifax County, NC, he was the son of the late Norman Clifton Best and Margaret Alease Brown Best.

Wayne loved playing the piano and enjoyed all types of music. He loved photography, especially taking pictures of his grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father and a wonderful grandfather.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 28 years, Gwen Smith Best of Hickory; son, Michael A. Gull and wife Lisa; daughter, Kelly A. Johnson; grandchildren, Katie M. Gull, Avery J. Gull, Jonathan Johnson, Mitchell Johnson and Hannah Rylee Johnson; and sisters, Emily Reynolds and husband Joe and Norma Best.

A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 23, 2015 in the Chapel of Drum Funeral Home in Hickory. The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until 3:45 p.m. prior to the service.
