William Junior Piper, age 85 of Conover went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 11, 2015. William was born on March 29, 1930 in Woodford City, Illinois to William Sylvester and Lilly Mae Piper. He and his late wife, Violet came to Catawba County in 1979. William worked for Ryder Truck Rental as a Diesel Mechanic and retired in 1991. After retiring from Ryder, William worked for Killian’s Hardware in Hickory.
William is survived by his children, Delaine Star Hutchison, Dawn Faith Murray and husband Larry, Debra Lynn Vicente, Billie JoAnn Maynor and husband Brad and Brian William Piper and fiancé Christa Gillette; brother Kenneth Piper; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Violet.
A celebration of William’s life will be held at 3:00 PM, Saturday, November 14, 2015 at Catawba Funeral Home in Hickory. Burial will be private. The Piper Family is under the care of Catawba Funeral Home.
