Amelia Rottkamp Baynes, lovingly known as Amy, grew up on the Rottkamp family farm on Carmen Avenue in Westbury, New York. She attended St. Ignatius Loyola Grammar School and St. Dominic’s High School, then graduated from Fordham University with a degree in marketing in 1951.
In 1956, Amy married William Baynes, and together they built a loving family. She was the devoted mother of seven children: William (Julie Dumas), Cecilia (Richard Canning), Paul, Christine Fagan (Miguel Silverio), Kevin (Stephanie Grebin), Stephen, and Patrick (Lynn Werther).
Amy loved being with people and would never turn down an invitation to any kind of gathering. Her life was shaped by the connections she cherished—with her close circle of friends and, above all, her family.
She was a devoted grandmother to Sean Baynes (Christina Maley), Brendan Baynes, Olivia Canning, Madeline Canning, Michael Canning, Emma Baynes (Blaise McLeer), and Will Baynes. Amy was also a proud great-grandmother to Evelyn, the daughter of Sean and Christina Baynes.
Amy will be remembered for the warmth she brought to those around her, her love of life, and the devotion she gave to her family and friends. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who knew her.
