I am deeply saddened at the loss of my big cousin, Daniel.  I hadn't seen him since my high school years, but we kept in touch very often in recent years by phone and through WhatsApp. 

We spent hours talking about our family, ancestors, and our homeland.  He shared many stories, jokes, and interesting posts.  He knew my parents welland checked in often on how I was doing with my ailing mom through the time she passed away and after. We spoke about visiting in the fall. Love and hugs to Myriam, Gregory, Caroline and all of our de la Fuente cousins.

This was our last photo  in Madrid. I will cherish it together with the few moments we spent there.

I will miss our regular whatsapp exhcanges and phone calls during those last few years.

To Myriam, Gregory, Caroline and family,

Our youngest uncle Daniel is gone. We will never get used to these unexpected and definitive departures.

Despite the distance, uncle Daniel had remained attached to the land of his birth and cared deeply about the countless problems we faced in Haiti. Every week he would inquire with us about the situation, relayed to us whatever information he would receive from others, including press articles on Haiti. 

He would repeatedly express his affection for the family, inquiring about every one of us. We would laugh together at his hilarious jokes, which help us forget the dire situation we faced in Haiti. His unique sense of humour would enliven our days. We will always cherish his memory and those precious times we connected with our dear and affectionate uncle Daniel.

We mourn with you, share your pain and embrace every one of you.
