Don and I were colleagues.  We had a wonderful working relationship thru many great times and hard times.  It was even better because we were friends also.  Don always talked about his whole family and I had the great pleasure, though under horrible circumstances, his amazing family!!

I hope his family finds some peace in knowing what a great man he was.

My condolences to the family of Don Burkart. Don has been my boss for the pass 8 years.  Although we really never interact on our personal time but he was considered family.  Most of our interactions was via the phone on our weekly meetings and he always expressed to his team how he considered us family. He always went to bat for his team and reminded all of us of the importance of safety in performing our jobs. He is being missed as I write this and will always be remembered in my heart. I prey for all his family and friends. Miss you Pal!

One of the Giraffes Don and I had the privilege to touch and feed at the zoo in Colorado Springs. 

An awesome memory thanks to Don.

Typically all service vehicles were restricted from using specific roads. Don found a loophole in the NYC permit regulations that said if the vehicle had a rear window and a rear seat they were not required to obtain special permitting.  So Don purchased and had  a certified rear seat equipped with a seatbelt installed.  This seat along with the rear window allowed him to use the passenger vehicle roads.   Unfortunately, it worked well, until he received a ticket  (Law enforcement wasn't impressed by his back seat idea - LOL).  Typical Don, always thinking outside of the box to find ways to respond to our client's needs

Sorry for your loss, I've been working with Don for the last 13 years.  I have never met a more soft spoken, kind person.   Nothing ever seemed to rattle him, or if it did he didn't show it on the outside.  Although our paths didn't cross on a daily basis, with my first name being Don and my last name also beginning with a "B" - people were always inadvertently getting us confused and we'd end up with each other's e-mails. 
Being work colleagues we never discussed religion.  Seeing the phase "Mass of Christian Burial" on this obituary, brought me great comfort knowing that if he hasn't already, he will soon be walking through the gates of heaven.   May the lord watch over your family through this difficult time.

Don was a great guy with an awesome personality. Don and I bunked together at the 2018 JLL Engineering Conference in Colorado Springs. The Conference was 2 months after my youngest son passed away. Don help boost my spirits while we were together. On our last day of the Conference, we were free to do whatever we wanted and Don suggested he and I go to the zoo that was near by. 
I will forever remember our visit to that zoo. My son's favorite animal was the giraffe. At the zoo, Don and I were able to pat a couple giraffes on their heads and feed them while we stood together on a platform.

I hope you all find peace in knowing Don is in a better place and will always be with you in spirit.
