Born in Yugoslavia, Dorothy came to the United States at the age of 13. She later met her husband Dominick and they were married in 1955. They purchased a home in Hicksville, NY. where she lived until moving to Virginia in 2016.
Dorothy was a loving mother of 5 children, Stephen (Lori), Dominick Jr (deceased), Dennis (Joanne), Donna(deceased) and Dominick III (Sue). The world’s greatest Nana was blessed with 8 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Dorothy loved her job as a greeter at East Street Elementary School and retired at the age of 80.
Dorothy was known for her generous spirit, and was always willing to help someone in need. She specialized in cooking trays of lasagna or crocheting blankets. Her door was always open to share a meal, a cup of coffee or just listen to those needing a friend. She especially loved her trips with Dom to the casinos in Atlantic City.
