Eileen Mary Rigby

Eileen was born on August 12, 1923 in Fall River, Massachusetts to Benjamin and Mary McBride. Her brother, Edward, preceded her in death. Eileen graduated in Boston College’s first class of nursing and served in WWII as a nurse. Her beloved husband, William (Bill), passed away in 2011. After raising their children on Long Island, Eileen and Bill lived their remaining years in the community of their young dreams, Little Compton Rhode Island. Eileen is survived by 6 of her 7 children: Mary Beth, Mark, Peter, Daniel, Stephen and Michael. Her son Christopher passed away 25 years ago. Eileen readily described her family as her greatest accomplishment, and the greatest joy of her life. Her enduring love ensured lifelong close relationships with all of her children, their spouses, 18 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Eileen guided her large flock both by preaching and living her strong Catholic Faith. She will be missed by all.

A wake will be held at Fern Acres Funeral Home in Little Compton, Rhode Island on Friday, December 13, 2019 from 4 – 8 PM. Her funeral mass will be held at St Catherine’s Catholic Church in Little Compton the following day, December 14th at 9 AM. Eileen will be interred with her husband Bill and her son Christopher at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Fall River, MA
