Elaine was the beloved wife of 62 years to the late Anthony Gerard Bocchino; loving mother of Anthony (Jeanie) Bocchino and Lisa (Vincent) DiGregorio; adored grandmother of Ciara, Kris, and Victoria; and cherished aunt of John, Debbie, Janet, Michael, Ann Lenore, and Jennifer.
Elaine was a quiet and reserved woman who often preferred to keep to herself. Beneath her gentle nature, however, was a strong-willed woman with a kind heart who was deeply loved by her family. She proudly dedicated 30 years of her career to Lerner’s Shops in Hicksville, NY, where she was able to put her passion for clothing and design to wonderful use. Elaine was also an avid art enthusiast and talented artist who found joy in creating drawings of the people, places, and things that held meaning to her. She had a special appreciation for the beauty in everyday life and often expressed it through her artwork.
Beyond her work and artistic interests, Elaine treasured the simple moments spent with those she loved. She especially enjoyed sharing tea with her daughter, Lisa, taking time to catch up and enjoy one another’s company. She also cherished her time with her sister, Blanche, daughter Lisa, and other women in the family. On Sundays, they would gather over coffee, sharing stories and catching up on life. These special Sunday gatherings affectionately became known as their “coffee klatch,” a tradition filled with conversation, laughter, and companionship.
The women of the family also enjoyed getting together throughout the year to celebrate birthdays and other special occasions. These gatherings often included dinners at their favorite restaurant, Bryant & Cooper Steak House, where they created many wonderful memories together.
In her later years, Elaine was fortunate to have the devoted care and companionship of her son, Anthony, who took extra special care of her. The two enjoyed taking walks around the neighborhood with their beloved dog, Oscar. Elaine looked forward to these special moments together, which became a cherished part of her days. Elaine and Lisa also got together often during this time, and the two of them developed a deeper connection, getting to know each other through deep conversation. When Elaine, Anthony, and Lisa were together, they especially loved reminiscing about the many happy memories made during their family trips to Lake George. Those treasured family memories remained close to Elaine's heart. Anthony wanted his mother to get a chance to relive those happy times, so he and Jeanie brought Elaine on one last trip to Lake George. She had a great time reliving years of sweet memories in one of her favorite places. Anthony also brought his mother to all family functions, so that Elaine could continue to share good times with her family and lifelong friends.
Elaine will be remembered for her quiet strength, kind heart, creative spirit, and the love she shared with her family. Though she may no longer be with us, the memories she created, the traditions she cherished, and the love she gave will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. May her memory be eternal.
