Eleanor T. Forte

Eleanor “Terry” Forte, affectionately known as Mommom to many, was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend. She passed away with grace and dignity on 16 December 2021.

She was born on Colinet Island, Newfoundland to Edwin and Catherine Doody on September 14th 1926. At the age of 17 she followed in the footsteps of her older sister, Mary and moved to New York. She met and married her husband, Anthony Forte. Together, they had 6 children: Lillian (Bitsy), Edwin (Eddie), Patrick (Pat), Karen, Bernadette, and Ralph.

Terry was the heart of the family, always connected by phone or with the numerous people who stopped by 8 Garden Boulevard on a near-daily basis. She worked proudly at Grumman for 26 years and spent many evenings dancing with joy at “The Stack” where she met and made lifelong friends.

A viewing is scheduled on Monday, 20 December at Vernon C. Wagner funeral home on Old Country Road from 1-3 pm and 6-8 pm. Mass will be held on Tuesday, 22 December at 11:15 am at St. Ignatius Church on South Broadway. Flower donations can be made to Vernon C. Wagner on her behalf.
