I am happy we were able to share some time on this world together. Your kindness and generosity to several generations of family and extended family was remarkable.

We will all miss you Aunt Libby. Till we meet again.

Such a great loss for our family., you were constant in a crazy world. When I was younger you called me petunia and  I called you Queen Tut,  as I grew older we stopped using our nicknames for each other but every once in a while when I saw you, you’d give me a big smile and say Hello Petunia,  it always made me happy.  My sister and I spent a few summers staying with you, grandma and grandpa, I always felt safe and loved there. I’m sorry Aunt Libby that you had to leave your home when the dementia became too much for even two round the clock aids, I know that it broke your heart I hope you know it broke ours too and we kept you in your home on Derby Rd for as long as possible. I hope you are at peace now, that your mind is sharp and bright once again and I hope you're with Mommy, Aunt Genevieve, Uncle Louie, Grandma and Grandpa, Christie, Skeet, Bill, Linda and all your other loved ones that went before you.

Dear Aunt Libby
I hope you know how much we tried.  I also hope you are with all of your family having a great reunion.  You will be missed by all of your family.

Aunt Libby as we called her was a wonderful aunt to us for 95 years. Having never married, she lived with her parents, our grandparents. She was always so good to me and my four younger siblings and then again when Mom had two more.  We were always well taken care of there. For two years we lived there with Mom and her six kids, Grandpa, Grandma and Aunt libby in a one bathroom house! She was a saint for all she did for us. 

It was hard to see the mental decline in Aunt Libby over the years and as the staff at the nursing home said, every once in a while, there came a moment of clarity.  It warmed my heart when Kevin and I visited her in January. We asked her who we were and to our surprise she answered the twins. That was really all we got out of her that day but it was special to us. As the last of my mother's generation, she will be greatly missed and loved even more.
