Florence Franchino

Florence Franchino, age 77, of Deer Park, New York, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 2, 2026. She leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love, laughter, friendship, and cherished memories that will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Florence was the beloved wife of the late Francis Franchino and the loving mother of Niki (Nicole). She was the adored sister of Joseph (Jean), Linda (Leah), and her late brother Peter (Rebecca). She was also a cherished aunt to Marissa (Paul), Jessica, Dara (Glen), Danielle (Phil), Dina (Ken), Jennifer (Mike), and Lisa (Shannon). Her family was truly the center of her world, and the love she shared with each of them was one of the greatest joys of her life.

Florence was someone who seemed to carry sunshine with her wherever she went. She always had a smile on her face and a warm heart that made people feel welcome and cared for. Family and friends meant everything to her, and she had a special gift for making meaningful connections with people wherever life took her. She loved being surrounded by others, sharing stories, enjoying a good laugh, and simply spending time together.

One of Florence’s favorite things was having lunch with her girls—those special moments filled with conversation, laughter, friendship, and the simple joy of being together. She treasured these times and the people who shared them with her.

Florence’s gift for friendship extended everywhere, even during some of the most difficult moments of her life. While receiving chemotherapy at Memorial Sloan Kettering, she became affectionately known as the “mayor.” True to who she was, Florence found a way to connect with everyone around her, bringing her warmth, humor, and unmistakable personality wherever she went. Even in challenging circumstances, she continued to make friends and brighten the lives of those around her. Needless to say, Florence was a people person at heart.

Those who knew Florence will remember not only her beautiful smile, but also the warmth of her presence, her genuine love for others, and the way she could make an ordinary moment feel special. Her life was a gift to her family and friends, and her memory will continue to live on through the countless stories, laughter, and loving moments she leaves behind.

May all who loved Florence find comfort in knowing that her love remains with them—in the memories they hold dear, in the lessons she shared, and in the countless lives she touched. Though she is deeply missed, the love she gave so freely will never be forgotten.

A visitation for Florence will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Vernon C. Wagner Funeral Home in Hicksville, New York.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, commencing at 10:00 a.m. at St. Ignatius Loyola Church in Hicksville, New York, with interment immediately following at Cemetery of the Holy Rood in Westbury, New York.
