Dear Maryann, Brian and Chris,
Anita and I are so sorry to learn of Gerard’s passing. We wish to extend to you our deepest sympathies.
I know that he loved you and your grandchildren very much. We hope that your memories of him will be of some comfort to you in the days to come.
Growing up in Catholic families, I'll always remember the time we went to confession, and some of the "boys" (you know who you are) switched the name tags of the grumpy Monsignor Ryan and Father Bain on the church confessionals. Father Bain was the “Bishop Sheen” of our parish. We took off before anyone found out. I hope this revelation doesn’t mess things up for you now, G.
One weekend, G and I went to England. The purpose of this trip was to escort the “other” Kevin back to the US. But the unofficial purpose was to have “tea with the Queen”. Unfortunately, we went to the wrong queens’ house, but we did stumble upon a pub or two, where we enjoyed several pints of “tea”.
G was no stranger to pubs back in LI either, as he opened several bars over the years, including my favorite, G’s Clubhouse. His best promotion by far was – “Free chicken dinner with the purchase of a pitcher of beer!” The dinner consisted of a hard boiled egg!!
More recently, and a yearly highlight for us, was to see G and Maryann at the fabulous Kent reunions and weddings. Thanks to our hosts Bill and Linda, we will always look back on these parties and forever cherish these times together.
G was a kind and loyal man, not only to humans but animals too, especially shelter dogs. We loved hearing his stories and meeting his dogs over the years. No doubt the animal world will be missing him too.
G always called, always sent a Christmas card, always had a good word and was always kind – to people and pets. You could say G always showed up! We’re gonna miss you G. I’m sure, by now there’s a G’s Clubhouse where you are.
I bid you farewell, as another tear falls into my can of Pabst. This one’s for you, G.

Dear Maryann and Thomas Family,
We heard of Gerard's passing and needless to say we were saddened. "G" was a wonderful friend, loyal, caring, and kind.
We always knew he would be there for us.
He was one of a kind, there will never be another like your "G". Our memories of wonderful times together will stay in our hearts forever.
Maryann, Brian, and Family, Chris, and family know that his friends loved him for his honesty, kindness, and love he showed each and every one of us.
