June 12, 1952 – April 10, 2025
Haralambos Papanakios, age 72, of East Meadow, New York, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 10, 2025, surrounded by his devoted family.
Haralambos was a man defined by love—love for his family, his Greek heritage, and the simple joys of life. For 44 cherished years, he was the beloved husband of Eva, with whom he shared a life full of unwavering commitment, laughter, and rich traditions. He was a loving and proud father to Christos (Nicole) and Demetri (Filomena), and a deeply adored Pappou to his two grandchildren Harry & Eva Sophia, whose presence brought him profound joy and pride.
Family was the center of Haralambos' world. He showed his love in countless ways, especially through the meals he prepared with care and passion. Known as the family chef, his Greek dishes were more than just food—they were expressions of love and culture, served generously around his table. Whether it was a holiday gathering or a simple Sunday meal, Haralambos always made sure everyone felt welcomed and well-fed.
For 25 years, Haralambos was the proud owner of the Blue Angel Diner, a beloved local spot where friends and family gathered daily to sip coffee, share stories, and enjoy his warm hospitality. He took great pride in feeding others, and many of his fondest memories were made within those walls—alongside loved ones, regulars, and fellow diner staff. The Blue Angel, along with other diners he worked at throughout his life, became extensions of his home, filled with laughter, connection, and community.
He also enjoyed the thrill of the casino, and blackjack was his game of choice. It was a pastime he relished with a playful spirit and a sharp mind. At home, he found comfort and companionship in his beloved Golden doodle “Leo,” who was always by his side.
Haralambos is reunited in eternal rest with his brother, the late Spiros Papanakios. He leaves behind a legacy of warmth, generosity, and cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
